It's OK
Peter, Australia. 11 Jun 2010.

This CD is OK, but old technology. An update would be welcome, perhaps on DVD. The format of CD was certainly not easy to understand; a child would have little hope of working out how to access what's in it by themselves. An adult has to get familiar, then walk the child through it. The information on this site suggests that a 32 page booklet is part of this product. It is not. The publisher advises that as 32 page booklet under the same title "First Steps in Irish" is available, but is entirely unrelated to this CD. The worst aspect of this CD is in the spelling section; if you have got a few letters correct but can't do the rest, there's no way of having the correct letters displayed. Then worse still, if you give up on that word and move to the next, the letters you placed in the previous word are still there for the next one! This means the next word will be incorrect from the start. Hopeless! this is a major design fault which should have been corrected and the CD should never have been sold until it had. Nevertheless, it's at least some use for the absolute beginner, but not really worth the money unless you can't find ANYTHING else.

An Chéad Coiscéim
Patricia, USA. 9 May 2007.

This is a great way to learn simple words and concepts in Irish, and to hear them spoken in your choice of dialect. It is also a great way to share your love of Irish with your kids or grandkids.
