Product Overview

This is a series of 120 free, on-line, Irish lessons, originally published in a magazine called "The Irish People". The course is designed for people studying alone or in small groups. This is a read-only course... there are no sound files, so it's not ideal on its own, but could be useful as a supplement to other methods.

I second Redwolf (as though she needs seconding!)

I found it when I was just starting Irish Gaelic. It is a basic cyber class.
I love it and try to go on it when I can.

A darn good resource (and the price is right!)
Redwolf, California, USA. 31 May 2005.

I used the lessons from "The Irish People" webpage when I first started learning Irish... even back before I got my first copy of "Teach Yourself Irish." I have to say that I initially found it a bit overwhelming, mainly because I really do better sitting at a table with a book in one hand and a notebook in the other... I find reading new material on the computer challenging. Now that I've been learning for a while, however (at this writing I've been studying Irish for almost a year and a half), I've gone back to these pages and been amazed at the wealth of well-organized information that is there, free for the learning. Someone who is less "book-centric" than I may well find this page to be the ideal "starter text." The only weak point is the lack of sound files, but they really do a good job of helping you interpret the phonetic system... much better than most print-only resources I've found. I would recommend it to a beginner who can't get to classes and isn't ready to run out and buy a book, but I also recommend it to intermediate learners as a good source for review and practice.
